Missing Tortoise Found! Tortoise Knows More Than Expected About His Location.

Shelly the Tortoise had free roam of Erika’s large property but he usually showed up at Erika’s home every several days. Unfortunately, a week had gone by and Shelly had not returned home. Erika feared Shelly was either stuck somewhere, lost or that perhaps he had passed over.

I had always wondered if a tortoise would be able to provide good information about their location. Tortoises, as you know, are low to the ground and rely more on their sense of touch and ambient temperature than their eyesight. It turned out Shelly the tortoise knew more information about her location than I expected.

When I communicated with Shelly, he showed me he had gone past the fence on Erika’s property, he had not gone very far and then Shelly came up against a wood barrier that felt like the base of someone’s home. It felt cold and dark there. Unfortunately, Shelly was not able to get out and he felt lost and hungry.

Erika talked to one of her neighbors and found out that the neighbor had found Shelly under his porch. The neighbor did not know what to feed a tortoise so he was planning to take Shelly to an animal shelter.

Thankfully, Shelly is home safe and wandering Erika’s property again.

Missing Foster Dog in Minnesota Found

Nonnie rescues dogs from puppy mills and other bad situations. Dogs rescued from puppy mills are often scared, unsocialized and fearful about coming when called by their new owners. Nonnie brought Jude the Japanese Chin home and Jude managed to get out of her well-fenced back yard. Nonnie contacted me after searching for 2 days because there had been no sightings or Jude. Nonnie was worried because the weather is very cold in Minnesota. If Jude never come out of hiding, he might freeze from exposure.

When I communicated with Jude, he told me he was hiding within a block of Nonnie’s house. Jude was next to a beige and white house that had a pet food dish and near a porch or deck.
