MOLLY'S "ODE TO SURVIVAL" POEM

I composed a poem of thanks to all of you for bringing me back to my family. As you see from the enclosed photographs, I recovered nicely from my ordeal, almost regained all my weight (though I must confess I eat every 5 minutes, but can't help it) - and things are generally looking up for me!

Molly's Ode to Survival

As, I stand here before you here now
So safe and happy, with the ones I love
I want to give a grateful loud miaow
To all of you who brought me back to life

That frightful night in far away November
I knocked the window screen and ran away
But mom and dad just moved into the complex
The building was too new - I lost my way…

And here my wandering began - I cannot tell you
Of all the horrors I went through, to find my way
The freezing cold, the constant hunger, all the danger
That lurked on every corner, every doorstep, every day

Those rotten crumpets I pulled out from the garbage
The sparse food people were throwing my way
Oh, how I longed to find my way back to my mommy
And to my Dad - my fervent prayers every day..

I had a fighting spirit, from my childhood
When homeless, hungry kitten even then
I roamed the streets and alleys with my brother
Not knowing if I'll find a home again…

The streets have made us tough - and now I'm grateful
For the survival skills I learned back then, and now
I am alive thanks to those lessons from my childhood
Though to this day I I'll never cease to wonder how...
